HOW DO I SAVE ON MY UTILITY BILLS?
Preventative maintenance is very important. While anything mechanical can malfunction, regular PM might significantly lower your utility costs. Keep appliances - AC units, refrigerators, freezers clear of dust and dirt. Dirty air conditioner coils can increase utility costs by 5%-35%, and low refrigerant charge by 10%-50% depending on severity. It's also a good idea to inspect and clean drier vent to remove excess lint. Consider replacing older appliances with more energy efficient ones.
WHY DOESN'T MY SYSTEM WORK PROPERLY?
It could be many things, but the most common that you the homeowner can check are, dirty air filter, improper thermostat setting, or circuit breaker off to equipment.
WHY DOES IT TAKE SO LONG FOR MY HOUSE TO COOL OFF?
It could be due to a few reasons. The first being if the unit has not been serviced in a couple of years the coil may be dirty and/or the refrigerant charge could be low which would reduce unit capacity. During hotter weather the thermostat should stay at one setting and not be turned off during the day which would allow humidity to increase inside the home. We also recommend that if a programmable thermostat is being used that the offset temperature be no more than 3 degrees on the cooling mode
WHAT IS SEER RATING?
SEER stands for Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio, It's basicly a number that describes how well Air Conditioning equipment performs. The higher the SEER number, the more efficient the unit is when it comes to energy consumption.
WHEN IS THE BEST TIME TO REPLACE MY FILTER?
You should replace your filter every 30 days to keep your equipment clean and operating at peak efficiency. I tell my customers to change their filter when they receive their utility bill - Gas or Electric, depending on the equipment. This makes it easy to remember, and it helps reduce that utility bill when done regularly.
